For every traditional bride there's that one that knocks your socks off and leaves you speechless. My friend Han here is that bride. Now let me tell you about this one special bride but I'll let the pictures speak for the rest.. Han has been my client for 5 years but I feel like I've known her and her family forever. She's that one in 1 million you connect with on every level and you just can't help but love her. Several years back she contracted Alpha gal Syndrome (AGS). AGS is Lymes disease on steroids and causes life-threatening allergic reactions. It is caused by a tick bite and it tore her life apart. She sold her business, went through medical hell, & almost withered away to nothing. You can't tell by these pictures but she is that strawberry blonde Campbell Soup kid who is basically pink. Without a tan she is the fairest of them all. She put her wedding off for so long I wanted to help her desperately and so we both got brave and started testing on her with clean products and then my products and we both nearly cried tears of joy when we discovered that my products were one of the few things her body did not violently reject. 💞 Nothing however prepared me for just how beautiful this beauty would look on her wedding day. I am a sucker for all things non-traditional but she really had my jaw in my lap and took my breath away... 🖤

I got my staples out today! On Thursday, February 5th, had major back surgery. It was ROUUUGH! 😵 I plan to resume normal duties and start taking clients once more on Monday, March 23. For now, I'm restricted from bending, lifting anything over 10 pounds, or twisting for 6 weeks. I am just basically laying back scheduling spring weddings and doing my taxes while on the mend.🤕 Last year I can easily say it was probably one of the worst on record from an economic and a health standpoint. Aside from scheduling being extremely slow and inconsistent, I was suffering from two severe nerve disorders; spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis. My back had deteriorated so dramatically I could barely walk without excruciating pain and relied heavily upon pain medication just to get through at least 5 hours a day. By Thanksgiving this year I was barely walking unassisted without falling, much less stand for any length of time. I recently had three discs fused, L4, L5 and S1 with 2 rods placed in my back. Although the first week was no cake walk, week two has shown me remarkable improvement in the strength in my legs and relief from most of my pain. Although I'm still quite swollen and it will take several weeks before I'm able to be active like I was once before, I am well on the road to recovery and pleasantly surprised! Thanks to all of you who cared enough to call to message and to check in with me. I appreciate you more than you know. It's hard taking this kind of time off from your business without worrying about the damage it might do. Your care and support has given me the confidence to relax and let myself heal. 🙏🏼♥️

I have been very quiet most of my life about my physical health and birth defects. I was born with developmental, reproductive, and musculoskeletal malformations. My condition is called Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome, Type II. As such, I was born with less cartlidge in my joints, and my spine. The left side of my body did not develop the same as the right. This is called hemihyperplasia. Basically, my muscles & tendons are not long enough for my bones. Because of that, I have suffered many traumatic injuries for little to no reason such as a torn hamstring, soleus tendon, ripped quadriceps, and rotator cuff for what would be considered normal things like trying to steady yourself from falling, jumping, or reaching across the car to grab something. In April I took myself to the emergency room in excruciating pain that I was convinced was a kidney stone. After an MRI it was determined that I have severe spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis which has resulted in debilitating sciatic nerve pain - the nerves in my spine are being compacted and crushed between two vertebrae that contain no cartilage. At this point of my life, they are completely deteriorated. There are many days I can barely walk without assistance or stand for more than a few minutes, and stairs can only be managed one at a time or by crawling. My legs go numb from pain and as such I am very weak and fall very frequently as my legs cannot support my body weight having lost a lot of muscle. My current pain management regimine gives me 5-6 good hours a day that I take full advantage of. On February 3rd, I will be having a multilevel fusion of my F4, F5, and S1 discs with a rod placed in my back. Recovery averages 6-8 weeks. I know this will improve my quality of life & pain by at least 75% and for me that is big! I have not said much to friends & clients as I refuse to just sit down and quit living. I also don't want my clients to feel guilty for scheduling appointments with me. In a matter of weeks, I will be back to a better quality of life than I have had in many years. Did you know that a darker tan will not last longer? It's a common idea that if you get a darker tan that it will take longer to fade. Time out. Depending on how fair your skin is, a darker tan can fade worse and be much more noticeable. The bronzer you see when you receive your spray tan acts as a toner to produce a more natural looking color on your skin. Those bronzers are temporary. Around day 5, they begin to fade and leave you with a golden yellowish color that spray tans produce naturally without bronzer. That means a darker tan may start looking orange by the end of the week… There are better ways to achieve a longer lasting, natural tan. 1. Proper prep is about 50% of the outcome of your tan. Exfoliation & shaving 24 hours prior & not showering within the 4 hours prior to your spray tan will help you produce the best possible, natural, longest lasting results. 2. There are now sweat proof additions you can add to any tan service. These sweat proof additions may enable your tan to wear 3-4 days longer. If you're a heavy sweater or going on a vacation to somewhere hot/humid, where you will have a lot of sun and water exposure, this is a good option for you. 3. Your aftercare matters as much as your prep. Using the appropriate moisturizer twice a day will slow the rate of the shedding of your dead skin cells. Using an appropriate soap in the shower will help your tan lasts much longer as well. Also, water is a natural exfoliant, whenever your skin is wet - Pat dry. Never rub. Mineral sunscreen is your best friend. When in doubt the stuff for babies is the real deal. No one wants a fried baby so I love Baby Bum personally it doesn't make you look like a gray alien and it lasts in the pool all day without reapplication! It will also help to protect your tan. When in doubt just ask your spray tan lady. I'm not in the business of selling lies so I'm always gonna be honest with you. A great spray tan can feel pretty miraculous but it's not a miracle. Whether you're new to spray tanning or a longtimer, it's important to have realistic expectations. I had a very unhappy client last week & she wasn't nice about it either. Even I have unhappy clients from time to time. My feelings have been hurt and I've even cried over interactions I've had with clients when things just didn't go to plan. I do my best to provide you with skin prep instructions to help set you up for success. I also give you care instructions during your service & thereafter so you know what to expect. However, there are many other variables they can factor in with your results & the longevity of your tan. If you're planning a beach vacation keep in mind that water is a natural exfoliant. Whether you're in the pool or wading in the ocean - salt water will strip your tan off very quickly. Also, saunas & hot tubs are not your spray tan's friend. Always remember to pat dry when your skin has been exposed to water or sweat. You will also want to be sure to use only mineral sunscreens. If it sprays it has alcohol in it and will strip your tan. You will also want to avoid products that contain high amounts of fragrance, mineral oil &, petrolatum. These things will also speed up the wear of your tan. Certain skin treatments & skin conditions psoriasis, eczema, acne to name a few, require treatments or prescription medications, that often will interfere with the development of your tan & that can be problematic. There are so many things that could impact your results. Please take the time to discuss any of these issues with me during your appointment so that we can be sure all bases are covered. No matter the case I want you going on vacation with a great tan and coming back with one still intact. That is always my goal for you and if that's not your experience, I want to know. I will always follow up with you the day after your service and if you're not happy, please let me know. We can troubleshoot what may have gone wrong & how we both can have a better experience next time.

DISCLAIMER: no dresses were harmed in the making of this wedding tan. There are common falsehoods that are often perpetuated about spray tans. I want to talk about one in particular today for all of my upcoming brides that are considering not getting a spray tan. You might even be *gasp* Considering utilizing a tanning bed.. STOP. 🛑 Q: "Will my spray tan rub off on my dress?" A: That's a great question. It's the most common question. It's also the reason I do bridal consultations, even with existing clients. When done correctly, your spray tan should not rub off on your dress. 1. The correct time for your wedding tan is two days in advance of your wedding. That gives us ample time and showers to resolve any remaining bronzer issues on the surface of your skin. 2. There are clear spray tans, minus bronzers, that may also be an option for you , where your skin type allows. The only drawback to this is spray tans minus bronzer naturally produce a golden tone that doesn't translate well for some skin types. 3. There is also a platinum waterproof / sweat-proof upgrade that can be applied to any tan. This may provide some resistance to easy transfer and help your tan wear much longer than it would normally. 4. And last but not least, our friend cornstarch baby powder! When applied to the upper torso in sweatier areas (under your boobs, under your arms, around your waist) and sprinkled into the bodice of the dress, it provides a silkier, moisture-wicking environment to reduce the friction of the dress against your skin. At any cost there may be some transfer of dead skin cells to the inside of your dress. This will not be visible from the outside. In the event it does occur, it is 100% water soluble and will clean up easily when you have your dress dry cleaned or heirloomed. It will also not be visible from the exterior. I've had many brides with sheer panels in their dress and zero staining. I hope this provides you some peace of mind and helps you in your decision about selecting an appropriate airbrush tanning artist for one of the most important days of your life. Trust that I care about this as much as you do and I'm here to help. 🫶🏼

Sunscreen does not cause cancer. From what I understand, at some point there was some very harmful and inaccurate advice by (High profile ) influencers, Including Kristin Cavallari, going around on TikTok that sunscreens cause cancer. In fact, claims of this nature are just wrong and very dangerous to public health. Let's examine and lay this nonsense to rest. There is no established medical evidence that links sunscreen to an increased risk of cancer. In fact, there have been scientific studies that show regular use of sunscreen can protect your skin against cancer by reducing damage caused by UV radiation. Where did these concerns come from in the first place? Ingredients like oxybenzone, which are not present in most mineral sunscreens (which are highly recommended by the sunless community), has caused concern of absorbing into the bloodstream and having an impact as a hormone disruptor. The FDA has not found enough evidence to consider these ingredients unsafe at present. There's also the matter of contamination of benzene. Some sunscreens (Not mineral) Have been recalled in the past due to accidental contamination with benzene, which is a known carcinogen. Benzene is not an intended ingredient in any sunscreen. These recalls were due to a manufacturing process issue. My clients know that I highly recommend Baby Bum mineral sunscreen. When it comes to sunscreen people don't play around with stuff they put on their babies. There are other highly recommended mineral sunscreens by dermatologists such as Elta MD or Laroche Posay. Please always consider the source and do your own research. One (1) in five (5) Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70. The only safe tanning is spray tanning and the only prevention for skin cancer is sunscreen.
